Calling all Kentucky parents and guardians, but especially those who have job flexibility, transportation, and other privileges. It’s time for us to show up for our students. ALL students! But especially for those most vulnerable students whose parents can’t (or for whatever reason) won’t.
The governor has called a special session, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 10 AM in Frankfort. We need to make sure we have #AllEyesOnKentucky’s KYGOP lawmakers who created the mess we are now entrusting them to solve. Last time that happened, we wound up with HB208, which is how we ended up in this predicament of needing a special session to simply let our local school board members and district leaders do what voters expect of them. Let’s not let that happen again.
Visit this page for a developing list of steps you can take before, during and after the special session, whether you show up in Frankfort in person or virtually through our watch parties and calls to action. Look for the educational opportunity form that allows you to take your student on a field trip to Frankfort and be counted present. Those of us who have that have the ability to do so can exercise our privilege to advocate for those who can’t. For many, it’s a matter of life and death!
Be sure to check back regularly, as the page will continue to be updated as we hear from districts across the state what they are seeing, learning, and needing help with, links to supports and resources, and more.
We are not crazy. We are not alone. We are enough.
